Camping at Gooseberry Mesa

extreme sports listening comprehension

The Gooseberry Mesa is a tabletop mesa just west of Zion National Park. Mountain biking is a blast here, and you can also see pine nuts, deer and cottontails. There is also plenty of cactus to see and you can watch birds of prey in the sky or listen to the wind blowing through the pine trees.

The mesa has several excellent campsites, where you can set up your tent close to the trailhead or in peace. Some campsites are first come, first served and some require reservations months in advance. Some of them are yurts so you can have a glamping adventure without having to leave the trails.

Gooseberry Mesa has a lot of singletracks that are perfect for mountain bikes. This is a great place to learn the ropes and develop your skills. It isn't as easy as Moab's slickrock, but the challenges are just as great.

moto races

Gooseberry's trails are perfect for both novice and experienced riders. The mesa has several trails that will keep you going back for more, and you can even rent a bike and ride it out to Gooseberry Mesa Point for incredible views of the surrounding landscape.

Some of best rides you can take on the Mesa are Goose Northeast, Secret Trail, Windmill/Bowls & Ledges, and White/Slickrock 101. South Rim & North Rim are two great loop rides which will take to you the top of Gooseberry Mesa.

Gooseberry Mesa Yurts is another great option. These are situated right next to the hiking trails. They are comfortable, and come equipped with bunks beds, lanterns and cook stoves. There is no electricity or running water, but they are an awesome way to stay on the mesa for a couple nights and enjoy all that the trails have to offer.

Bring lots of water with you if camping at Gooseberry. You will not find drinking water at the mesa.

extreme sports travel insurance

Gooseberry Mesa Point offers 360-degree views of the mountains, valleys, and red rocks. You will need good hiking boots for the hike. There is a lot exposure in the area, so wear sunscreen.

The Gooseberry Slickrock Trails are very technical and will challenge your strength and stability. This is not the place to be if heights are not your thing.

Dirt roads can lead to a few camping spots scattered along the trailhead. These sites can be quite secluded and offer a lot of privacy, so they are a great alternative to the more popular campgrounds in the area.
